DARE ~ Helping Kids to Resist Drugs and Violence
Each year, the Collingwood OPP offers a special program to Grade 6 students. This program is known as DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistence Education). Throughout the program, students learn the potential risks and the dangers that both drugs and alcohol can pose. The DARE program is designed to teach students ways to make decisions that are safe and appropriate. Case studies, questions and responses as well as role playing take part in this 14 week program. Police Constable Marcey Rivers also discussed such issues as bullying and cyber bullying with our students this year. Last night, we held our DARE Graduation Ceremony. On behalf of Miss Kitchener, Mr. Irion and PC Rivers, I thank the parents, family members and friends who attended the ceremony last evening. Thank you to Brenda from TD Canada Trust, a sponsor the program and an Auxilary Officer herself. Honourable mention goes to Morgan, Dylan and Hailey for presenting their DARE essays to the audience. Well done, students! Congratulations to all.
